We're looking for a leader for our Halifax office
Cape Consulting Group is looking for a Vice-President to lead its Halifax-based operation. Join our industry leaders in St. John's, Moncton and Charlottetown.
Do you fit the bill?
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor or Master of Public Relations or similar, be a sound practitioner, understand the client-agency relationship, be enthusiastic and entrepreneurial. You should have ample experience at the senior ranks, and have a real passion for growing our business. Expect to practice Corporate counsel. Reputation management. Public affairs. Issues management. Stakeholder relations. As a leader, you will help our clients strategically manage relationships with their publics to achieve understanding and realize goals, while maintaining the public interest at all times. And, you'll manage the Halifax office from our digs in Historic Properties.

GR Advisor Tracey Cutcliffe hones in on trade in Brazil, March 2013
Tracey Cutcliffe, Senior VP at Group M5 and Government Relations Advisor to Cape Consulting, recently served as lead for Innovation PEI in its Market Investigation Mission to Brazil. Tracey provided planning, coordination and logistics support to a delegation of government and business officials.
Brazil has the world's sixth largest GDP. The country is emerging as an economic powerhouse and a key driver of global trade and investment priorities. In 2011, bilateral merchandise trade between Canada and Brazil totaled $6.7 billion. Since 2002, Canada-Brazil bilateral trade has increased over 150 percent.
The Innovation PEI mission took the delegation to Sao Paulo and Florianopolis with the goal of identifying and establishing a better understanding of the potential business opportunities for PEI in Brazil. The mission provided delegates with valuable insight in this important market, with a first hand introduction to the business environment. The mission also established key contacts in Brazil with Canadian trade officials and relevant Brazilian government officials, business representatives and sector specific experts.

Cape takes part in The Big Green Up! October 2012
October 15-21 was Waste Reduction Week in Newfoundland and Labrador, and on October 18, the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board held its annual Big Green Up, a one-day challenge for all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians to actively generate less waste. Members of our Cape team were on hand to help out at various events throughout the day around St. John's, like a flash mob at the Scotia Bank Centre downtown and free coffee at Jumping Bean Coffee!
Cape and the Grey Cup, October 2012
Cape Consulting Group was on hand for the Canadian Football League's Grey Cup 100 Tour during its stop in Newfoundland and Labrador on October 8, 2012. Associate Elizabeth Furey spent the day with the legendary Canadian trophy at a touch football game in Mount Pearl and on George Street in St. John's in the evening, helping to share the Cup with CFL fans in the province.

You can't stop Cape Consultants! Over the past weekend, the Chicago Marathon (one of the world's five major marathons) welcomed 45,000 runners to the city – including Heather Spriet, a Cape Consultant from our Nova Scotia office.
With over 18 weeks of intensive marathon training under her belt, she set out under sunny, yet chilly, conditions for the finish line with a pack of Halifax gals.
The city of Chicago is known for its amazing support of the marathon with never-ending bands and singers including Elvis, cheerleaders, a marching band, bongo drummers, Gangnam style impersonators and salsa dancers. Spectators and supporters line the route from start to finish offering high-fives, pretzels and gummies. Lots of distractions as the kms click by!
After 42.2km's, Heather crossed the finish line of her first marathon with a time of 4:19:37.
Cape Vice-President named to Research Advisory Board, October 2012
Chad Peters, Cape Consulting Group's Vice President in New Brunswick was recently named to the Advisory Board of the New Brunswick Social Policy Research Network (NBSPRN). Supported by all four New Brunswick public universities, as well as the Government of New Brunswick, NBSPRN is a network of people engaged in activities that contribute to evidence-based public policy development. It includes researchers, academics, sectoral experts, practitioners, policy analysts and informed citizens.
Cape Participates in Sports Day in Canada, September 2012
Members of our Halifax team, in partnership with our client ParticipACTION, took part in Sports Day in Canada on September 27th. Cape held a media event at the Canada Games Centre with Olympic bronze-medal kayaker, Mark de Jonge. Mark demonstrated kayaking to a group of school-aged kids to show that excellence in sports is true at any age, from youth to Olympic athletes. A large number of media came out to cover the event, which was a great morning for all involved!
Stephenson tours the southern States, September 2012
Senior Consultant Tracey Stephenson from our Moncton office recently took part in a tour of Arkansas, USA. Tracey, along with our client SWN, toured SWN's Fayetteville Shale operation, looking at all stages of drillings operations for natural gas. She said the most impressive part was the natural gas refueling station that she visited, as there are only a few in the country, and this particular one was built by our client.
Energy and Mines Minister's Meeting (EMMC), Charlottetown, September 2012
Cape Consulting attended EMMC in Charlottetown, PEI this month, having an opportunity to explore national and regional energy issues with Ministers and Industry Representatives. Federal Energy Minister Joe Oliver spoke of the value of contribution of the entire natural resources sector to the Canadian economy, while provincial and territorial Ministers used the opportunity to raise the profile of their own major natural resource developments in oil and gas, energy overall, mining and other sectors. With an announcement about the Atlantic Energy Gateway initiative coinciding with the conference, Ministers and Industry also signified their continued cooperation on energy matters in Atlantic Canada. Four of Cape's senior leaders were on hand for the discussions, and also hosted the opening night event for participants.

Cape Consulting Group is honoured to support the Wade Drake and Burch Nash Family Park in Fortune, NL. The park officially opened in August and is dedicated to the memories of two men from Fortune who lost their lives in the Cougar Flight 491 helicopter crash in 2009.
